First draft hell. Sometimes I go back and edit, usually not.
I used to give bad advice.
Then I was very aware.
My band, Cities & Years (with Ben Cureton), is playing a show in a week. Even though we’re opening at 8 PM on a Tuesday, I put us on top of the flyer because that’s how excited I am about us finally unveiling what we’ve been working on, for over a year, to other people. Our set exemplifies so much of how I’ve been feeling that there’s no way to disconnect me from it, to the point that I feel intertwined with it.
That’s not even a strong enough statement.
I guarantee it. I stand behind it 100%. This music is my Black Card, my Centurion American Express. It’s my private concierge to get me to where I want to go. And, it’s not just me. It’s me and my best friend. We decide everything together, and the way it works, and where everything goes. It’s a team effort. And it works.
It’s made explicitly to be enjoyed.
Temporary design/illustration for facebook photo. no ampersands… yet. I’ll post a link to it when we have 25 “fans” (aka: 25 facebook friends who “like” us). We’re planning to have a show soon, and we’re super excited for it. SWAG.

I connected to this line very early on as far as the timeline of my appreciation for Purple Haze goes. Around the same time I connected to this record, I lost my best friend, and I connected with the sentiment of living for those who aren’t here.
I enjoyed typesetting this in Mr. Eaves, and connecting the images to the words as appropriately as possible.
I wish my homies could watch me live Happy Days like Joanie and Chachi
